SecureTransport Edge is a file transfer gateway used for multi-tier security architecture deployments of SecureTransport. It enables secure DMZ streaming of file transfer data to prevent storing sensitive information in the DMZ. Tightly integrated with the SecureTransport Server, SecureTransport Edge provides multi-protocol file handling, SSL termination, and back-end authorization that streams data across the DMZ to the SecureTransport Server.

Using SecureTransport Edge Organizations can:

• Create a multi-tier file exchange infrastructure
• Eliminate the storage of data in the DMZ.
• Utilize multiple Edge gateways in the DMZ, for load balancing and performance optimization.
• Quickly and cost-effectively implement new file transfer gateways within the enterprise, extending the reach of the SecureTransport Server.

In addition, the appliance platform provides the following benefits:

• Hardware and OS installed by Tumbleweed, pre-loaded with the SecureTransport software.
• Based on a hardened Linux operating system, stripped of unessential services and locked-down.
• Utilizes external storage mounts through NFS or SMB/CIFS, including support for Repository Encryption.
• Administered through an HTTPS web interface and SSH.
• Works in conjunction with SecureTransport for UNIX software components, such as using an SecureTransport Edge appliance in front of an SecureTransport Server for UNIX.
